My inlaws, Paul and Hilary, came to visit last weekend. Paul loves birds so we thought the National Aviary on the North Side of Pittsburgh would be the ideal entertainment for him.
On the way in we saw this guy:
I wouldn't have thought that a two-toed sloth could be considered cute (or an ideal resident for an aviary).
Then we were treated to these majestic creatures:
Some of the birds were clearly not interested in being on display:
Let us out!
In the big main room there were a lot of bird calls, but they were hard to see with all the vegetation. Fortunately this one wanted to be the center of attention:
We were about to head out to the car when Dave noticed a sign leading to another area. That was where we found the flamingos and other tropical birds, which ended up being the best part of the aviary. There we witnessed an argument between two pelicans and a couple of very screechy yellow birds (I think they were conures).
